Valencia CF Academy gets recognition at a sports gala
Diario Sport and LaLiga present VCF's Alevín A with an award for their behavior in last season’s LaLiga FC Futures
Xavi Estacio joined the VCF Academy 11 years ago now still being a kid. He started out as a Benjamin and since then he has moved up through the VCF Academy ranks showcasing his quality and physicality and honing details with the VCF Academy professionals. With the unconditional support from his family through thick and thin.
Fortunately for Xavi Estacio over this 11 year-period there have been more positive moments than negative ones coming up through the Valencia CF and Spain youth system. Now at the age of 20 he has recently extended his ties with the VCF Academy following a learning season at the VCF Mestalla.
What does extending your contract at Valencia CF mean to you?
“I’m feeling great to be honest. Continuing at Valencia CF is a dream for me being able to compete and defend this shirt we were looking forward to closing the contract extension agreement. I’ve been at this club for many years, I was really looking forward to making the contract extension official. It’s a source of pride for both me and my family to stay in my city and defend my colours alongside the teammates I’ve been 11 years with and many others that I’m getting to know here.
What do you remember from the first times you came in at the Ciudad Deportiva?
I joined at Benjamín A level and I moved up through the youth ranks and luckily for me I am still here. I made a move from a small club like Manises and the first few days were a bit tough with other people from other tournaments and it was difficult for me at first.
You talk about your family how important is to have a family behind you?
It’s the most important thing besides being psyched up getting home having your parents, relatives and close-knit friends helping you and asking you, but they also help you to take your mind away from it. They’re the most important thing I’ve got.
Xavi Estacio is a right-back, but he can also play further up the pitch
They’ve always labelled me as an attacking full-back for example at the Youth League I’ve been able to operate in attacking areas and deputise as a number 7. I love playing football, attacking, defending and being able to compete.
Now you are on holiday, but working non-stop because the pre-season starts on July 12th
It’s been a different season and I spoke with my fitness coach and my closest friends about wanting to work to build up my match fitness to be available whenever I’m required to prove my worth and show that I am a right-back for many years to come”.
